Today I'll be showing you half of Global Village. After the Holidays me and my family went straight to Dubai. I only stayed their for about ten days. On the first day, we visited Global Village. It is only open for two months in celebration of Dubai Shopping Festival. It is like a theme park and a shopping mall  with an outdoor setting. We didn't actually went to see the rides, we only visited the shops also know as pavilions. There are 32 pavilions that represents different countries. I guess that's why they called the place Global. If you'd like to see the list of pavilion and programs that they offer just visit their site: Global Village

We stayed there for about six hours long but we were unable to visit all of the pavilions. The place was really huge, a whole day of walking around is still not enough. Be sure to bring a thick jacket since the temperature is so cold. I find it weird that a city like Dubai which is known for being a desert can be so much colder than my hometown Philippines. 

The first pavilion that we visited was Africa. Most of the products inside a pavilion reflects the countries culture and traditions. Its kind of a souvenir shop all around the world. The entrance of each pavilion are decorated marvelously according to their culture and well known infrastructure. Here another tip, its better to visit Global Village at night because of the magnificent lightning.

Some of the pavilion offers great products that uniquely describes their origin. However, its a shame that most of the pavilions offers the same thing. The distinctiveness of the each countries where not properly displayed. 

The place is not only known for its rides and pavilion but also for its breathtaking stunts and cultural shows. Every pavilion has a mini stage were a group of performers show off their traditional dances. At the center, a  huge stage can found where role plays and other performances are held. There are also a wide variety of foods to choose from. Since it was so cold  we tried to eat hot foods. The potato on stick looks so delicious, who couldn't resist it. We ate a Shawarma on plate at a restaurant and it cost as about 45 dirhams each. It was really expensive compared to buying a Shawarma on street which cost us only 5 dirhams each. The prices are high so better bring a lot of money when visiting.

Some of the pavilion offers handmade product which are made by well known artist from their country. Here is an example below: An Italian artist that uses a technique called wire bending in creating art. 

The rides are really enticing, just look at those bright fun lights, and wait till you hear the screams of joy from the people. It a bummer I wasn't able to try one of the ride, there's always a next time I guess. So this is me trying to take a picture in the sea of crowd and failing miserably. There were so many people, its so hard to take a great shot. There are seriously a lot of photobomer. These pictures will be a teaser to my next post which is a about my outfit.

It is very usual of me to post pictures about my family but I just couldn't help my self from sharing these photo. This is the story about the picture below: As you can see from the first phot I was taking a picture for my little sister. Then out of nowhere these couple showed up and started photobombing. I nearly died of laughing as to how the picture turned up because instead of my sister being the main subject for the photo it turned the other way around. It seems like she's the photo bomber and the camera is agreeing with them. They became the focus as to were my sister became the background and turned blurry.

I wore a semi-formal attire for a family dinner at Butch which is a Filipino restaurant  that serves traditional foods. The food was delicious and the  aura of the place is very intact with the Filipino culture. 

We had a small family gathering to give thanks for a prosperous year. Thankful that our grandparents are still alive and well considering their old age. 

We may have encountered ups and down in our lives but the important part is that we are all still together. 

Also, it's been a long time since the last family gathering was held. All of our relatives are in town because of the holiday season, so we took the opportunity.

 Hearing stories and updates about their lives is a sign of a healthy relationship with each other. Close family ties is a special part of our tradition that will always be practiced.
